Kanying from Canada won the championship in World Championship of Online Mahjong tournament held in December 2012. As an extra prize she won a VIP trip to Macau with two-night stay at Grand Hyatt Macau and an allowance of 1000USD in cash. The PR manager of Dragon Kong, interviews her.
Dragon Kong: Hello kanying, congratulations on winning the tournament! Could you please describe how it felt to win WCOOM2012?
kanying: Excited and felt that day was my lucky day because all participants are all experienced player.
Dragon Kong: How long have you been playing mahjong?
kanying: More than 30 years.
Dragon Kong: How long and how often have you been playing Dragon Kong?
kanying: I start to play Dragon Kong since 2011 June—more than 2 years, usually play 5-6 days/week.
Dragon Kong: Do you play live as well?
kanying: Yes, Hong Kong Style.
Dragon Kong: Nowadays, are you playing more live or online?
kanying: Online because online game is more convenience, can play any time.
Dragon Kong: How was your trip to Macau?
kanying: Excellent. I had visited several casinos such as City of Dreams,Venetian,Sands ,Grand Lisboa and
watch a great show – The House Of Dancing Water. Of course, I had also visited Historic Centre of
Macau, Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral,Senado Square for sight-seeing with my relatives in Hong
Kong.
Dragon Kong: Did you play on the Casino?
kanying: Yes, slot machine.
Dragon Kong: After winning last year, do you feel the pressure this year to make a strong showing?
kanying: A Little bit.
Dragon Kong: Do you feel there is a strategy difference between regular tables and tournaments?
kanying: Yes, for tournament, just 4 hands for 1 round, need to fight for the first 2 position, sometimes
need to self-tsumo instead of mahjong thrown by other player, or need just mahjong thrown by
the second place player in order to obtain 2nd position.
Dragon Kong: Will you play this years’ WCOOM?
kanying: Not sure.
